The honeymoon begins

Elizabeth and I arrived in the Riviera Maya, in Mexico, on Monday afternoon.  We are staying at the Iberostar Grand Hotel Paraiso, which is very nice.  It is all inclusive, with 5 restaurants, a few pools, and people that go out of their way to help.  We’ve had fun trying out a few of the restaurants so far, and have had good weather (good by my definition = not so much sun that I melt).  I’ve uploaded some photos of the resort.

Our wedding

I’ve posted some random photos from our wedding.  The photos are from the bridal shower for Elizabeth, the rehearsal dinner at 2201 in the boro, hanging out at home after the rehearsal dinner, and the wedding day.  We really had a great day for our wedding – after a rainy Saturday, Sunday dawned with clear skies and nice temperatures.  Everything came together nicely, and Elizabeth looked beautiful.  We were surrounded by those closest to us, and had a nice, intimate ceremony.

Our wedding website

Our wedding is September 7, 2008, in front of both of our families.  To organize the information in one location, and to give me an excuse to make another website, we’ve put the wedding information up on its own site, www.ellisklinewedding.com.  The site is still a work in progress as we finalize the plans, but the main information is there now.  We hope to add more information as we approach the wedding date.

Elizabeth’s birthday at Box Hill

On June 21, Dad Ellis, Vanessa, Meredith, Elizabeth, and I went to Box Hill Mansion for a birthday dinner for Elizabeth, and to finalize wedding plans. We are getting married at Box Hill on September 7.  I took some video while we were there.  Weather permitting, the wedding will be outdoors, down to the left of the reflecting pond shown in part of the video.  The high def version is here.

Hershey Gardens

On June 21, while Elizabeth, Vanessa, and Meredith did wedding stuff, Dad Ellis and I drove up to Hershey and toured the Hershey Gardens.  I’ve uploaded a video of the gardens, and also a video of the butterfly house in the gardens.  A thumbnail version of the butterfly house video is below, or you can go to the High Def version at Vimeo.  The high def video of the entire gardens is here.

MS 150

Team Diddy

I’ve uploaded a few pages of photos that Elizabeth and I (both non-riders) took from the MS 150 bike ride today.  The ride started in Pittsburgh and ends tomorrow in Erie – a long ride for sure.  Meredith, Aaron, Dad Ellis, and Vanessa (a/k/a “Team Ditty”) did the hard work, and made a very good showing.  Elizabeth, her grandfather, and I worked at the lunch stop in Grove City.  As hot as it was outside, I was worried that Team Diddy would roll into Grove City looking a bit worn out.  They arrived, though, in great shape and ready to continue on after a short rest.  They spend tonight at Allegheny College, and then ride to Erie tomorrow.

Golden Gate Bridge

I’ve posted the video I shot of the Golden Gate Bridge.  Matt, Brooke, and I stopped at an observation point on our way out of San Francisco, and towards Squaw Valley, on May 10, 2008. It was so windy that not only is the audio worthless (I’ve dubbed over it with music), but also it was hard to hold the camera steady. There was a quite a view of the city from where I shot this.  The clip below is the low-res version.  You can view the high def version at Vimeo.

New Year’s Eve (really)

As I was looking through the photo directory on my media server the other day, I realized that I had never uploaded the photos taken on New Year’s Eve at Drew and Erin’s house.  So, only five months late, here are the photos.  It’s always good to start off a new year with good friends.

California videos

I’ve posted two videos from the California trip that Matt, Brooke, and I took.  One is of Squaw Valley, and the other is of our drive around Lake Tahoe.  The camcorder’s onboard mic picked up lots of wind, and not much in the way of voices.  I’m almost at my weekly upload limit with the video host (vimeo.com), so the final video, the Golden Gate Bridge, will go up early next week.

Lake Tahoe

Lake TahoeYesterday, with all the ski areas in the region now closed for the season, Matt, Brooke, and I drove the 72 mile loop around Lake Tahoe.  Wow.  What a remarkable drive.  It was a scenic drive, and there were a few white knuckle parts as well.  In one area, after several hairpin turns, the road crossed a ridge, with a dropoff of several thousand feet on either side.  Matt and I took some great photos of the lake.

Brooke left for the airport early this morning.  Matt and I will be leaving in about 45 minutes.  I took some video which I will post when I get home.
