Melissa and Dianna came to visit with Elise and Elizabeth. I was at work so I missed it, but Elizabeth sure got some cute photos. Words don’t express how cool it is to have Brooke, Melissa, and Dianna around for stuff like this. It is going to be a fun many years ahead.

Thanksgiving 2011

Elise had her first long trip, and her first holiday, when we traveled to Oji and Nonnie’s home for Thanksgiving. She did well, and really took to her grandparents (again). She also met her great-grandfather, and we got a nice four-generation photo of Pappy, Oji, Elizabeth, and Elise. It was nice to see everyone, and it was special that so many of us were able to gather for the holiday. We’ve uploaded some photos.

Brooke, Melissa and Dianna

It took some time, but Brooke, Melissa and Dianna are back on the East Coast for good, and we’re thrilled. They came for a visit last Sunday, which was the first time Elizabeth and I had seen Dianna since she was 6 months old. There are some photos from the visit up in the gallery. She is ADORABLE, and just a fun little girl. She and Elizabeth did some imaginary baking in the kitchen, and she and Elise got a chance to say hello (although Elise was asleep most of the time). It is going to be great getting to watch her grow up, and I think Elise is really going to look up to her.

Oji and Noni Meet Elise

Noni and Oji (Poppy T?) came in on Thursday night, and got to meet Elise for the first time. We’ve uploaded photos from the visit. As usual when we get together, we had a fun, enjoyable weekend. They were also a huge help, helping out with the yard, with meals, with the kitchen, and of course with Elise. Elise misses them already.

It’s exciting and fun watching Elise develop. Even over the course of the weekend, we could see a change in her awareness. She’s definitely a curious baby, and likes being around the action. She rarely fusses, but when she does the cure is often as simple as bringing her around people.

Uncle Aaron arrived on Thursday, and Elise got to meet him for the first time. She was so excited, that her wet diaper leaked all over him (sorry Aaron!). We’ve posted a couple of photos of Aaron and Elise. Meredith and Aaron, and Nana and Grammy before them, have been a huge help. We’ve also been truly touched by the kindness of our neighbors, who brought dinner to us our first several nights home. Without all the help, this would have been an overwhelming experience for Elizabeth and I. We are truly blessed with such loving and supportive family and friends.

We’re really starting to feel like real parents now. Elizabeth is feeling better, and really hit her stride two nights ago. She’s had great energy, and really seems to relish being a mom. She’s doing a great job.

Highpoint

Elizabeth and I enjoyed the nice spring weather on Saturday, and took a walk to the top of Highpoint Scenic Vista, which is just a few miles down the road from our house. I took some photos during the walk. She did great, carrying an extra passenger for the trip. We’re out of the first trimester, and she’s doing much better now. In just over two weeks, we learn the gender of our baby.

I’ve uploaded more video that was shot during Christmas 2008. This part is from our time in Pittsburgh with the Ellis side of the family. We headed to Pittsburgh after Christmas Day, and had a great time with the family. The video is below, or you can watch the high def version at Vimeo.

I’ve finally uploaded some video from Christmas 2008. The first part is video from Christmas with the Kline side of the family. We started the day with immediate family (Mom, Dad, Matt, Jen, Miles, Zach, Josh, Elizabeth, and I), and then the rest of the Smith side of the family got together in the afternoon. The video is below, or you can watch the high def version at Vimeo. The next day we headed out to Pittsburgh, so next up will be Christmas with the Ellis side of the family.
